IN THE ACADEMIC AREAN

There has been a steady progress in the academic pursuits of the college and of the colleges that were started along with us in 2007-08 we are among the top with respect to all round development.

The faculty strength at present is 13 among them there are 06 faculties are part time teachers. As part of the quality improvement programme five of the faculty are doctors and 02 undergoing Doctoral programmes in various institutions. The supporting staff strength is now 18 and other staff such as ministerial security etc., total 34 on the campus.

The students’ performance in the University Examinations has shown marginal improvement during the year. On College Foundation Day has been celebrated on April 09th, 2012 and one day seminar was organized on "Climate Changes: Problems and Challenges for Agricultural Engineers".

Dean of the College has attended National Seminar on "Interaction between Traditional and Modern Technology". He has attended a Brain Storming session on "Water use Potential on Flood affected Area Drought Prone areas of eastern India at ICAR Research Complex for eastern region Patna , Bihar. He has attended a meeting and a Brain Storming session on "Training Need assessment of faculty and scientist” at AARM, Hydrabad. He has participated in 2012 International SWAT workshop & Conference at IIT, Delhi during July 16th -20th, 2012. Dean of the college has delivered a Technical Talk o “Watershed Management” at Institute of Engineers of India at Raipur.

Besides this, Dr. V M Victor has attended training programme of seeding, threshing, harvesting and Plant protection equipment on 19.05.2012. He has attended one day orientation workshop on 06.06.2012 at DRS, IGKV as IPRO of the college. He has been attended the Winter School “Technopreneurship Opportunities in Agricultural Mechanization” being organized at CIAE Bhopal during November 20 to December 10, 2012 being organized at CIAE, Bhopal. Dr. B L Sinha, Asstt. Professor has attended one week training programme on “Human Values on Education” at Abhudya Sanathan, Achhoti durin 4-10 February, 2013. One day programme on “Learning from past Experience”has been organize at college Under NSS on 24.02.2013. Shri Diwaker Naidu & Er. Himanshu Ekka, Asstt. Professors of this college has attended a training programmevfor “ Newly appointed Assistant professor” at IGKV, Raipur from 23.01.2013 to 29.01.2013. This Orientation programme was organized by NAARm, Hydrabad.

CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

The college provides its students numerous opportunities for co-curricular activities to enrich their cultural interests. The cultural committee of the college encourages the students to take part in a wide variety of cultural competitions such as singing, dancing, debates, creative writing etc. and holds various cultural activities throughout the year.

LIBRARY

At present there are totally 22000 volumes and 6000 titles including reference books available in the library. National and International Journals totally 80 are being subscribed. There is a separate reference section with more than 300 books for students to prepare themselves for appearing in competitive examinations. There is also a large collection of Educational CDs and DVDs. The Library Management system is fully automated and used for tracing, issuing and reservation of books.

The college library has been enrolled as member of INDEST – AICTE, Consortium through which we are subscribing all the online journals and magazines of IEEE, ASME and ESDU. We also have membership in Madras Library Network (Malibnet, Chennai) and the British Council Library.

PLACEMENT & TRAINING

The in-plant training is intended to expose the students to an environment in which they are expected to be associated in their future career. The students will be required to have hands-on-experience at progressive farms, research institutions manufacturing or agro-processing industries and in rural areas. The training includes farm planning and development of irrigation/drainage project, watershed development, manufacturing technology of agricultural or processing machinery, testing and evaluation, quality control, marketing and servicing. The In-plant training for a period equivalent to one semester or two trainings of two months each is recommended, wherein the student would complete the process right from the raw material to the finished product; and then market it to the consumer.

The experiential learning is intended to build practical skills and entrepreneurship among the graduates. It will involve setting-up of model plans for food processing and value addition for product diversification, setting up of workshops for manufacturing, operation and maintenance of farm machinery and equipment, maintenance and custom hiring of farm machinery and equipment. Thus, besides in-plant training, two hands-on training programme, each of six weeks duration during summer breaks of second year and third year would be required to be completed by every student.

A great deal of emphasis is laid on Training & Placement activities starting from the entry year itself. As part of the Industry Institute Initiative a fully fledged placement and training cell headed by a full time senior faculty has been functioning on the campus. Reputed companies have started calling on us.

In the first year English language training is imparted to the students along with testing in quantitative and mathematics skills. In the second year English speaking including conversation, dialogue, group discussion and public speaking skills are imparted. In the third and fourth years training in communication skills, attitudinal change and interview skills development is emphasized together with preparation and writing of resume and cover letter.

Industrial visits and guest lectures are arranged every semester for every class to give students practical exposure, Auto Tech Industries, On-Campus, Off-Campus and Joint-Campus interviews are arranged for final year students.

NSS ACTIVITIES

College has celebrated Independence Day and under NSS tree plantation activity has been done.

On 17th August, 2012 students and staff has been celebrated “Sadbhavna Diwas” under NSS.

NSS unit has been conducted “B” certificate examination on 18.10.2012.

One day programme on “Learning from past Experience” has been organize at college Under NSS on 24.02.2013.

STUDENTS CULTURAL ACTIVITIES

College Annual Function "AgriTech Carnival" has been celebrated on April 24th, 2012.

College Foundation Day has been celebrated on April 09th, 2012 and one day seminar was organized on "Climate Changes: Problems and Challenges for Agricultural Engineers".

The Inter college cultural event “Madhai-2012” has been organized during 05-07.11.2012. Dean of the college and other faculties has attended inaugural and closing ceremony of Madhai-2012. Many students of this college has actively participated in various events and secure good position.

Dean of the College along with faculty, staff and students have visited to Mungeli for celebrating the foundation day of District Mungeli on 12.01.2013.

SPORTS

Physical Education is an essential ingredient to tap a student’s full potential. Three Physical Directors including a lady Physical Director look after the day-to-day sports activities on the campus. Our students also participate in Zonal and University tournaments and athletic meets.
